Start with gentle brushing
Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled brush. Use small, gentle movements along the gumline and clean the outer, inner, and chewing surfaces. Replace a brush when its bristles become worn, usually every three to four months.
Clean between teeth
Clean between teeth once a day. Floss, an appropriately sized interdental brush, or a water flosser may help reach areas your toothbrush misses. Ask your dental team which tool suits your teeth, bridges, implants, or orthodontic appliances.
Make prevention personal
Limit frequent sugary snacks and drinks, and keep regular dental appointments. Your dentist will recommend a visit schedule based on your oral health rather than a single schedule for everyone. Tell us about dry mouth, sensitivity, or changes in your medical history.
Bring your questions
Bring the products you use or their names to your appointment. Ask us to demonstrate brushing or interdental cleaning where you find it difficult. Annapolis Dental Care offers cleanings and exams for patients of all ages.
