Give yourself time to adjust
New dentures can feel unfamiliar. Minor irritation and changes in speaking or eating can occur while you adapt. Follow-up appointments allow your dentist to check the fit. Persistent soreness or a loose denture should be assessed rather than ignored.
Clean the denture and your mouth
Rinse and gently brush dentures daily with a soft brush and a suitable non-abrasive cleanser. Clean your gums, tongue, and any remaining teeth too. Ask which products and storage method suit your particular denture.
Changes in fit need attention
Dentures placed after extractions may need adjustments as tissues heal. A denture that breaks or no longer fits should be checked professionally. Do not attempt to file, bend, or glue it yourself.
Keep regular appointments
Even without natural teeth, your mouth still needs examinations. Bring your denture and adhesive or cleaning products to the visit. Ask when to remove it, how to store it, and whether an adjustment, reline, or replacement is appropriate. Our team can discuss a plan for your denture needs.
