Your Guide to Tooth Whitening: Maintaining That Toothy Smile

Another solution is through the tooth whitening process.

If you’re unhappy with the way your teeth look, then you should know that there is still time to change it. One way is by taking better care of your teeth. Another solution is through the tooth whitening process. But once you have that brilliantly white, toothy smile you’ve always dreamed of, here’s how you can make sure it stays that way. Follow this helpful guide!

Use Whitening Toothpaste

The first step is to use some whitening toothpaste. While visiting the dentist to have plaque and tartar removed does a tremendous job of keeping your teeth clean, this doesn’t mean you can’t ignore your dental health when you are at home. After all, you typically only visit your dentist twice a year, or every six months, for a cleaning. You can also speak to your dentist about professional whitening treatments, but using this type of toothpaste can help keep your teeth white in between scheduled treatments.

Eat More Fruits and Vegetables

The next step is to change your diet. You won’t always be able to use toothpaste, even if you carry a travel toothbrush and some travel toothpaste with you as you go about your day. Consider eating more fruits and vegetables. Celery and carrots are tasty additions to soup, but eating them as they are is just as good. That’s because they can help remove some of the layers that discolor your teeth. Eating more apples also boosts your dental health, it isn’t just an old saying. That’s because apples help your teeth the same ways that celery and carrots do.

Protect Your Teeth

One problem with your dental health that can affect how white your teeth are is how strong your enamel is. Over time, your teeth enamel will break down, especially if you don’t take proper care of it. Protect your teeth by changing your daily habits, and consider using fluoride toothpaste and adding more mouthwash into your oral care routine as well. Fluoride is also commonly found in tap water, but beyond staying hydrated drinking more water can help improve the state of your teeth, especially if you enjoy eating sugary snacks or sipping on acidic drinks such as coffee or juice while you work.
